In Memoriam of Dr. James R. Meindl

This past August, we were shocked to hear of the untimely death of our colleague, Jim Meindl. Many James Meindlmembers contacted the OB division executive committee, to ask us to recognize Jim's contribution to our field at the conference. At our meeting on Monday in New Orleans, and what has become our celebration event, Angelo Denisi, our past OB division chair, took a moment to celebrate Jim's life, and to recognize his enormous contribution to our field. He also announced the initiative we are taking below.

We now wanted to follow-up to do something special for Jim's family and for all those who knew him well. We would appreciate if you could reflect on your memories of Jim, and in the form below, provide a brief statement that captures a unique positive moment with Jim. We will compile your reflections for presentation on our website and send to his family. We felt that most of our families don't know of all of the positive connections people like Jim make in his professional life, and we wanted to share with them some of those special moments he created.

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive memories of Professor Meindl.

Bruce J. Avolio
Chair, OB Division
